2600 yards last night. moving up. hopefully i'll start getting faster too.

back in the water

got back in the water tonight. drove to bloomington to practice with the masters team there. whew...definitely not in the same shape i used to be in. well, got in about 2000 yards, so i'm pretty happy with that for the first night back in.

triathlon choices

oh yeah, i also think i've picked out a few triathlons that i'm going to try to do in the summer. one in effingham and two up in lake geneva. one of the ones in lake geneva isn't till sept. 9, so hopefully i'll have been working out enough by then to complete at least an olympic distance, maybe a half ironman, we'll have to wait and see.

swim team

well, i've gotten in touch with a master's team in bloomington/normal, that practices 3 times a week. i'm going to go to my first practice on monday. i'm really excited, but kinda nervous too, cuz i've swam against some of these people when i was swimming with BUMS, and there were some really really fast people. i hope i don't die.

alumni swim meet

hey folks. i'm a little late on this one. i actually swam in the alumni meet yesterday, but didn't really feel like posting then. well, i swam in a couple of events (most of which were rather unorthodox in the swimming world). i swam a 2x100 free with my distance buddy from high school, adam josephson. then a pineapple relay (6x50 free) with some guys that i swam with over the years. it's called a pineapple relay because each member of the winning team recieves a pineapple. and finally i challenged my little brother kyle in a 50 free race. unfortunately, my lack of training showed through because i was way too tired to beat kyle by that point in the meet. he swam a 29.28, and i swam a 30.02. the older brother reign has fallen. however, i fully intend to take my crown back next year. i'm going to start training as soon as i get back to peoria. so watch out, kyle, i'm coming for you.

non-workout workout

the greatest workout that no one would ever consider a workout. 30 minutes of dance dance revolution. trust me, as much as you're probably laughing right now, i swear, if played correctly it is quite the work out.

racquetball

small workout tonight. 40 minutes of racquetball with my dad. according to the chart on the wall, that was 712.8 calories burnt. i don't know if that's good or not, but it sounds good, so i thought i'd put it in here. otherwise all i'd have to say is that i played racquetball.

early start

so i'm getting started on this a little before new year's. oh well, i'm just ambitious i guess. well, it's 11:30 p.m. and i drove 6 hours home today, so obviously i didn't work out today. just thought i'd put up a first post, since i was here.
